Is 5 years considered a “brief intermission”?

Well friends, it has been a minute. My last post was 5 1/2 years ago (!), back in Covid times. A lot has changed since then. We homeschooled for a couple years and loved it, then the kids went back to public school (which has been a mixed bag – may discuss that in another post). I finished my master’s degree and started teaching part-time. Our oldest three kids graduated from high school and ended up all over North America in college and on church missions. We moved across the country again, and now I am back in school and 3/4 of the way done with a Ph.D., still teaching…and now our youngest three kids are about the same ages the older three were when I first started this blog.

It literally takes my breath away to think about all the changes and challenges and opportunities that we have had over the past decade. 2016 me, happily gardening and canning and raising babies on a little piece of land in Wyoming, certainly never thought she would be in grad school and homeschooling in California during a worldwide pandemic in 2020. And 2020 me most definitely did not imagine that in 2026, she would be living in Michigan, back in school AGAIN, and back to gardening and canning, but this time with teenagers and young adults.

Should I ever go back in time…here’s a hot tip for my 2016 self: Quit thinking you’ve got your future all figured out, because God has other plans!

So, here we are. I am ready to start writing and sharing again, although I am still not totally sure where I am headed with this blog space yet. We may just have to find out together, and see how this evolves. But for now, welcome back! Let’s get this party started (again)!
